My name is Phil Swindle. Carol is my first cousin and the first born of my Aunt Mary and Howard Cope. For years our family lived in the Homewood area of B'ham. I have many fond memories of Carol because she was loving. Being that I was younger in age, she could be stern but she was still loving. I always respected that about her. Our families were very close particularly on my mother's side and we would often sleepover at the Cope residence or the Pledger or Purvis residence with our extended families. I remember in particular one year our families decided to attend the Alabama State Fair together and the musical guest was Jeanie C. Riley who was one of Carol's favorite artists. We had a ball! I remember how loving and tender Carol was with her children. At our family reunions over in Panama City Beach, I remember Carol's tender care for all of her children. She will be sorely missed by many including me. May God bless Carol and usher her into the glory of His awesome presence where she will receive mercy, healing, perfect peace and love beyond measure. I have great hope and I'm looking forward to seeing her again at our family reunion in heaven.
