HAWKINS, DORIS WADDELL, age 89, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Kirkwood by The River. She was a lifelong resident of Birmingham and a graduate of Phillips High School. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Samuel Graham Hawkins; and her parents, Lois and John Waddell. She was a member of Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, a charter member of Grayson Valley Country Club; the Women's Business and Professional Club of Center Point, and the Christian Women's Club East. Doris retired from the Jefferson County Comptroller's Office after 30 years of service. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 9:30-10:30 at Ridout's Trussville Chapel followed by a graveside at Forest Hill Cemetery beginning at 11 AM.
