Doris Gaynell Whitson Jeffers age 83 of Birmingham, AL, born, June 21, 1928 in Fairfield, AL, died June 20, 2012. She was a member of Sandusky United Methodist Church. Her joy in life was loving God and her family. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Elmwood Chapel with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Elmwood Chapel. She was preceded in Heaven by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Whitson; three brothers, Wilbur Whitson, J.L. Whitson, and Robert Burt; her husband, Joseph W. Jeffers; and son, Joseph W. Jeffers, Jr. “Little Joe”, and granddaughter, Kaye Lashley. Survivors are her children, Wayne Jeffers, Donna and Larry Latham, Susan Jeffers, and Alice and Bo Cole; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a brother, Edward Whitson; and many friends and relatives. Pallbearers will be Joseph Jeffers, Joe Guy, Jason Stephens, Jarriel Jackson, Justin Cole, T.J. Partidge, Steven Burt, and Skip Sutton.
