Dorothy Ivey Kilpatrick

Dorothy “Dot” Ann Kilpatrick, age 88, joined her Heavenly Father on October 31, 2022 at Birmingham, Alabama. A native of Troy, Alabama, she was born on January 15, 1934 to Wilmer and Cleone Ivey. Although she was born an only child, she had many cousins whom she cherished and loved dearly.

Dot attended Woodlawn High School and Alverson - Draughn Business School. During high school, she met the love of her life and husband of 59 years, Marvin Kilpatrick. They married in 1951 and later moved to Trussville, Alabama where she lived most of her life. Dot, along with her husband, co-owned and operated Kilpatrick Wholesale Greenhouses for 40 years.

Dot and Marvin took every opportunity to travel all over the world. In addition to traveling, some of her favorite pastimes were reading, golf, playing cards, and watching Alabama football. Spending time with her closest companions was her greatest joy.

Dot is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ray Kilpatrick and Kent Kilpatrick. She is survived by her son, Dale (Teresa) Kilpatrick; daughter-in-law, Susan Kilpatrick; grandchildren, Christy Kilpatrick, Liz McBath, Michael Kilpatrick, Kelly (Travis) Toney, Christian Kilpatrick, Crystal (Jordan) Kilpatrick, Zach Kilpatrick, Dylan Kilpatrick; great grandchildren, Brittney Woods, Crystal Woods, Jordan McBath, KayLeigh McBath, Presleigh Osteen, Teaguen Osteen, Bouyer Toney; and great-great grandchild, Kenzleigh Bing.

Visitation will be on Saturday Nov. 5, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
