

Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Virginia McCracken, age 81, of Moody, was born on May 26, 1936 in Live Oak, FL and passed away peacefully Friday, November 24, 2017. The majority of her childhood was spent in Coosada, AL and her adult life in Prattville, AL working for the State of Alabama. Dot spent the first part of retirement in Panama City Beach, FL but then quickly returned to Alabama following the birth of her first grandchild.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Trussville and was a resident of Fair Haven Nursing Home for the past 10 years. She loved dancing, gospel music, spending time with her grandchildren and making them sugar cookies.
Dot was predeceased by her parents, Horace and Thelma Frederick, brother Elmer Frederick and spouse Flossie, her brother Jimmy Frederick, her sister Betty Duncan and spouse John, and her husband of 49 years, Bobby Ray McCracken. She is survived by her daughter, Karen McCracken Stapler and spouse Hubert of Moody, her son Michael Ray McCracken and spouse Kim of Trussville, her granddaughter Hannah McCracken and grandson Logan McCracken, both of Trussville, her sister Shirley Frederick of Wetumpka, sister-in-law Loraine Frederick of Prattville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
