Heaven just got a little more organized
“Aunt Dot” or “Sitty Dot” to all who knew her, went home to the Lord on Monday morning, August 11th 2025 peacefully in her sleep at the incredible age of 101.
Born outside Jackson, Mississippi, to Fonley and Bertie Ray, Dot was one of nine children, with four brothers and four sisters. She was passionate about quilting, cooking Lebanese food with her friends, and faithfully serving her beloved church, Saint Elias. A dedicated member of both The Cedars Club and the Saint Elias Ladies Altar Society, she was known for her love of cleaning and organizing in service to her faith community.
Dot was many things: strong, sharp, compassionate, and wonderfully direct. She didn’t just offer advice – she gave instructions, and somehow, you always found yourself better off for following them. Her love was constant, her loyalty unshakable, and her presence unforgettable.
Dot is reunited with those who went before her, including her parents, siblings, her husband, Oscar, her son, Oscar “OJ” Jr., and her grandson, Terry Wehby. She is survived by her son, George Anthony Wehby (Vicki) of Pelham; daughter-in-law, Harlene Wehby of Panama City, Florida; grandsons, George Anthony Wehby II (Jeanne) of Chelsea, Matthew Joseph Wehby of Helena, and Jason Wenzel of Panama City, Florida. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Bailey Sweeting (Austin), Emma Cranor (Ethan), Mary Claire, Lillian, Lola, George Anthony Wehby III, as well as four great-great-grandchildren: Taytum and Livie Sweeting, and Waylon and Barrett Cranor.
Dot was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing that death is not the end. We celebrate the truth that she is now reunited with her loved ones in eternal peace.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, at Saint Elias Maronite Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery.
2 Corinthians 5:7-8
For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
