JEFFERSON, DOROTHY D. Age 87, of Birmingham, passed away, Wednesday April 25, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Alfred R. Jefferson (US Army Retired), her parents Helen and Thomas Derrick, and two sisters: Helen James and Gladys Miles. Mrs. Jefferson is survived by her son, David Jefferson (wife Ginger), a grandson, Sam Jefferson and other relatives, first cousins Vanette Charlton and Bernice Roberts. She was a home maker who traveled the world as an Army spouse. Mrs. Jefferson was a committed Christian and member of Shades Mountain Independent Church. Graveside service will be Sun., April 29, 2012, at 2:00 pm at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family, request donations, is made to the King's Ranch.
