

Pat was born on December 6, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in Jefferson County, Alabama in May of 1963. He attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in 1968. Pat was baptized as a young age in the Baptist church and was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church.
Pat enjoyed a long career in Computer Programming, beginning with Goodyear Tire in Akron, Ohio. He retired after more than 20 years of employment with Information Technology Services at Shelby County, Alabama.
A lifelong athlete, he played Pee Wee football, baseball and basketball as a youth in the Vestavia Hills community and in the church league of Jefferson County, Alabama. As an adult, Pat took up tennis and played the rest of his life, attaining professional status and playing at a 4.5 level. In his 70s, he assisted in coaching at several schools in Jefferson and Shelby counties.
Pat bought a sailboat later in life and especially enjoyed sailing after his retirement. He enjoyed music; he learned to play the trumpet at Homewood Jr. High School and even played Reveille at his basic training in the U.S. Navy in Newport, R.I. after college. He taught himself to play the guitar, playing and singing many of his favorite songs from the ‘60s.
Pat’s service in the U.S. Navy resulted in the rank of Lieutenant JG and was spent largely in the North Atlantic region.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Jack E. Stevens and Dorothy Stevens, and his brother, Jack E. Stevens II. He is survived by 2 sisters, Gay McAnally (Loren) and Sherry Sellers (Curtis); 6 nieces and nephews, Cathy Donze, Jack E. Stevens II (Trish), Elizabeth Haynie (Andy), Loren Leigh Baggett (John Allen), Andrew Sellers, and Nicholas Sellers (Donia); and their children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Pat's life is being scheduled for a later date.
