He was a former member of Midfield Baptist Church and was retired from U. S. Steel. Corkey was one of the last members of the “Central Park Boys” and was an Sgt. in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and a member of the VFW Post 44 in Gulf Shores. He loved to fish, the beach and an avid Alabama Football Fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice J. Daniel; daughter, Denise Daniel Starnes; granddaughter, Maggie Rose Starnes Sisk.
Survivors include his daughter, Darlene D. Black and husband David; grandchildren: Kelly Black and Alex W. Black (Heather); great grandchildren: Brody (Jentry), Madalyn and ArLeigh, Jackson Sisk; grandson-in-law, Brandon Sisk; nephew, Don Olvey (Lisa).
His service will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until service time.
