Edward attended Phillips High School and also served in the US Navy. He retired from the City of Birmingham after 35 years of service but continued to work a part time job with Magic City Trucking Company.
Edward was a self-taught banjo player and played in the Birmingham Banjo Band for over ten years. He had many friends that he continued to meet with for music sessions after he no longer played in the band. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Sloman Norwood, daughters Deborah (Fred)Norwood Ranelli & Cynthia (Keith) Norwood Pope, 7 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Elmwood Chapel on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 1 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2PM.
