Edward Bernard Rohling Jr., 84, passed away April 22, 2021. A funeral service will be Saturday, May 8, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Visitation begins at 9:45 a.m. with a Rosary Service at 10:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. (masks required). Burial services will at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham. Edward was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Bernard Rohling Sr. and Frances Skotzky Rohling; Mary Anne Browne Rohling, his wife of 26 years; and infant daughter, Mary Anne Rohling.

Edward is survived by his wife of 14 years, Marce Osteen Rohling; son Edward Bernard Rohling III; daughters Deanna Rohling and Lucy (Johnny) Hudecz; granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Hudecz; brothers Jack (Donna) Rohling and the Rev. Msgr. Paul Rohling; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rohling graduated from Glenn Vocational School.

He started Rohling TV Repair, and then began a long career at the Social Security Administration. After retiring from SSA, he began a second career, working for Tameron Automotive for more than 28 years, retiring at 79. In addition, Edward also worked at several part-time jobs over the years, including Kmart, Pizitz and Brookdale Senior Living.

He was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in East Lake. He faithfully served in the parish as a choir member, cantor, usher and member of the finance committee. He was also a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Clanton, Alabama, for many years.

After retiring to Florida, he became a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in DeBary. Edward was a loyal member of the Serra Club and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served as a volunteer with Troop 124 of the Boy Scouts of America.

After retiring, Edward moved to John Knox Village in Orange City, where he and his wife, Marce, enjoyed spending time with friends. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed volunteering in the library and attending Bible study. He also enjoyed traveling and cruising with family and friends. The highlight of his travels was a 96-day world cruise in 2008 on the maiden voyage of Cunard’s Queen Victoria.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Barnabas Catholic Church or to the Serra Club.
