age 93, of Homewood, Alabama, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012. She was born in Yetter, Iowa, and lived her early life in Iowa, Texas, Illinois and Florida before moving to Alabama. A veteran of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II, she married a World War II veteran Neil Thompson in May, 1945. A charter member of Oakmont Methodist Church in Homewood, Alabama, she was a devoted wife for 59 years, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother Maude Fahan, sister Francis Jones and husband Neil Thompson. She is survived by 3 children; Kay Bryant (Ronnie), Ray Thompson (Gayle) and Rick Thompson (Kay); 5 grandchildren, Traci Thompson (Tony Jenkins), Amie Bond (Tyler), Tracey Etheridge (George), Tina Demeritt and Rhett Bryant (Tracey); 12 great grandchildren, 4 nieces, 1 nephew and 1 sister-in-law Marian Yeackle (Henry). Gee Gee will be greatly missed and her faith and influence on our lives will be cherished forever. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Elmwood Cemetery, with visitation one hour prior at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel.
