
passed away on Tuesday at the age of 100. She was the wife of the late Woodrow T. Hayden and the daughter of the late Callie Hudson and Olin R. Thomason. She was also predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Kay Hayden Henderson and two sisters, Mrs. Roberta Perrin and Dr. Eloise Kirk. Eleanor graduated from Howard College (B.S.), Samford University (M.A.) and the University of Alabama-Birmingham (Library Sciences). She was an active member of Kappa Delta Gamma and Kappa Delta Epsilon where she was an organizer and advisor. For many years Eleanor was a classroom teacher at Trussville Elementary School and was an active member of the Trussville United Methodist Church where she served with the laity of the church. Eleanor was a Lifetime Girl Scout and served in multiple areas as a volunteer. She was awarded the Thanks Badge for her years of service. She also was a member of the Wayfarers, an adult Girl Scout alumni service organization. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 12:30-1:30 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Graveside Service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens at 2:00. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made in her memory to the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama or St. Martin’s in the Pines.
