We are so sad to announce that Elizabeth Jean Clark Hayes of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on December 21, 2021 at the age of 99. She was surrounded by family who loved her dearly and who will celebrate with her at the gates of heaven one day.
Jean, the daughter of Emma Lowery and Arnold Buren Clark, was born on September 3, 1922. She was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Jean is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years Albert Ninnian Hayes; sister, Peggy Wright; and brothers, Edward and James Harold Clark.
She leaves her son’s George (Ilene) Hayes and Eugene Hayes; sister, Sidney (Bob) Abney; grandchildren, Stephanie Knight (Marty), Keith Hayes, George Hayes (Laura); great grandchildren, Britney White, Tyler White, Doran Hayes, Mary Addison Hayes, Palmer W. Hayes, and Sutton M. Hayes. Others missing “Grandmother” alongside her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and sister, include nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as special nieces, Debra Gellness, Michelle Brown, Theresa Olson, and friend Linda Bramlett, who visited with her each week.
A graveside service is planned for 11 o’clock on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation honoring her life to your favorite charity. “The song is ended, but the melody lingers on.” –Irvin Berlin
