Ellen Jean Ferrell

Ellen Jean Ferrell age 94 passed away on January 5, 2016 after struggling with cancer at Highland Medical Center in Scottsboro, Alabama. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama and after graduating from high school married the love of her life, Jack Ferrell. They built their home in Bluff Park in 1953. She spent her life devoted to her husband for 70 years. In all her life, Jean’s greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family and friends. She leaves all of her children and grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved and that she loved the Lord. Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack Ferrell; parents Archie & Pearl Newsome; brother Archie Newsome; daughter Linda Corkill and granddaughter April Corkill. She is survived by her daughters Paula Belmont (Joe) and Juanita Tombrello (David); son in-law Jim Corkill; grandchildren Joey Belmont, Jeff Corkill, Johnny Belmont and Michael Tombrello; five great-grandchildren; sisters Nora Merritt, Elizabeth Scott and Betty Burttram; and brother Charles Newsome. Visitation will be on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with graveside services following at 11:00 a. m. at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital will be appreciated.
