Elvie "Phil" Fielden MCGLAWN Jr., age 79, of Blountsville, Alabama passed away on Wednesday June 12, 2019. Phil was born November 14, 1939. He was preceded in death by his parents Elvie F. McGlawn and Lola B. McGlawn and grandson, Zachary Jeremiah McGlawn. He is survived by his lifelong "Sweetheart" of 58 years, Judith A. McGlawn; sons, Elvie "Mac" Fielden McGlawn, III (Sherry) and Gordon Grady McGlawn (Lori); daughter, Shoshanna McGlawn Jackson (Kirk); 10 grandchildren; one great grandson and one great grandson on the way. He taught school at Tarrant High School and he was a columnist for the American Heritage in the Cullman Tribune which is Alabama's oldest newspaper. Phil was a Gospel and Blues Musician. He was known for his strong faith, sense of humor and great love for people. He was the proprietor of the Rusty Nail Antique Store in Blountsville, AL. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home, 800 Dennison Ave. S. W. Birmingham, AL 35211 with a Celebration of Phil's life following at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Ralph Oliver and Rev. Paul Rivers.
