Ervil Swinney, Jr. age 70 of Calera passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ervil was preceded in death by his parents: Ervil and Marie Swinney and his sister Betty Chandler. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Swinney, sons: Tracy (Tammy) Swinney, Tripp (Tammie) Swinney, Dabo (Kathleen) Swinney, Greg Minor and Jason (Amy) Miller; proud grandfather of ten: Taylor, Hank, Alex, Asher, Jack, Will, Drew, Clay, Blake and Braven; his sisters: June (Lee) Pilleteri, Patsy Parker (David) Johnson and Jackie (James) Cash; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Ervil was known for his wit and sense of humor and was loved by all. He will be deeply missed and may he rest in peace. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Pelham First Baptist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
