Esther Lydia McKinney

Esther was born on January 30, 1952, and raised by her grandmother, Lydia Parson Collins. Esther was married to Leamon Roy McKinney in 1983 and mother to Jay Graham, Leemon McKinney, and Alyssa McKinney. She was a dedicated wife and mother; her family came first above all else and was a value she instilled in all her loved ones. She was a devoted friend and dearly loved for her commitment to those she loved.

She obtained her law degree from Birmingham School of Law and devoted her career to University of Alabama Hospital Birmingham practicing Risk Management, retiring after 23 years. During this time, Esther was also deputized as a Deputy Sheriff. Esther loved the equestrian world and continued working with Tennessee Walkers and Quarter horses through the end of her life. She lived a life devoted to God and family; a life full of grace.

Esther was predeceased by her grandmother, Lydia Parson Collins. She is survived by her brother, Maurice Parson and his wife Charlynne; her husband, Leamon McKinney; her sons, Jay Graham and his wife Marsha, and Leemon McKinney; her daughter, Alyssa McKinney; and her granddaughters, Hannah Graham, Alexandria Graham, Kylie Graham.

A visitation for Esther will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211, followed by a celebration of life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
