Jean, I am so sorry to read about Gene.  We now live in Murray, Ky where Vicki and family live, but I check Bham obits on line.  Our prayers are with you and family.  Love you.

Our condolences to the Skaggs family.  We are saddened to learn of your loss.  Darrell will be greatly missed by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him.  He was a hero both on and off the battlefield. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of grief.

He hired me to teach JROTC at Woodlawn High School. I was 3 months short of retiring from the Army. I attempted to call UAB and the operator accidentally connected me to the JROTC and LTC Shaggs. The rest is history. I taught for 24 years. I remember him as being very gracious and always quick to laugh. Many prayers for his family.

Eugene Darrell Skaggs Family,

Even though we didn't see or visit Uncle Darrell as often as we liked he was a great man and we are very proud of him for his military service as well as his devotion to family and friends.  He will be remembered for his easy and professional way of greeting and talking with people of all walks of life.  We will miss him and his friendly smile.
May God Bless his family and friends as they go through this mourning process.
