Felicia Gabrielle Taylor

Felicia Gabrielle Taylor, 28, transitioned on April 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. Felicia was born on March 29, 1996. She is survived by her precious son, Jackson Oden; parents, Donald and Jennifer Sanders; brothers, Zackariah Taylor (Traci), Darian Sanders (Xamdaa), Sebastian Sanders; sister Anani Sanders (Markielah); grandparents, Stanley McMurrey, Regina Mardis; great grandmother, Sharon Mardis; best friends, De’Korius Oden, Amber Moore, Alexis Hinton, and Mary Beth Hudson; mother in –love, Angel Oden; her Army National Guard, Alpha Company First of the 114th; and her YMCA family; and a host of many family and friends. Felicia was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Linda “Mimi” McMurrey and Gertrude “Gran Gran” M. Sanders; great grandparents, Margaret and Oscar Evans.

Felicia loved her son more than anything. He was her heart and her dream. She dedicated everything that she did to him and making sure that he was always ok. They were the best buddies. But she was always his mother first and foremost. Jackson was her “dude”.

She loved reading, especially Harry Potter and any mythological books. She worked with the YMCA since she was 14 years old. She loved being a lifeguard, swim instructor, and eventually the Aquatics Director. She proudly served in the Army National Guard with the Alpha Company First of the 114th Unit.

Felicia was the “boss” of the family. She was always coordinating her siblings and family at events. Everyone always had to be in the right place. Felicia loved life. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 3 pm in the Celebration Chapel at Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel.
