Felix "Eddie" Edward Lewis Jr.

Felix Edward "Eddie" Lewis, Jr., 77, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 21, 1949, Eddie lived a life marked by honor, hard work, unwavering integrity, and a deep devotion to those he loved.

Eddie was a proud Mason, a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge, and a Shriner. Alongside his beloved wife, Frances, he found great joy in serving others and spending time at the lodge, where he faithfully helped prepare for Bingo nights while she enjoyed playing with friends. Those simple moments together became treasured memories that reflected the love they shared.

A true patriot, Eddie loved his country and demonstrated that love through his service to his community. He was passionate about amateur (HAM) radio and enjoyed connecting with people from all walks of life. Through the airwaves, he formed lasting friendships that stretched across the globe, including friends in Vietnam and Australia. His curiosity, kindness, and genuine interest in others made every conversation meaningful.

While Eddie enjoyed many hobbies and friendships throughout his life, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. His grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life and the light of his heart. He took immense pride in each of them, sharing his wisdom, encouragement, and steadfast love. Through his example, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dependability, honor, and quiet strength that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Elizabeth McGathy Lewis; his cherished daughter, Angel Lewis Ledbetter; and his parents, Felix Edward Lewis, Sr. and Margaret Ruth Matson Lewis; along with sister, Patricia Denton.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Pamela Lewis Teer and Patricia "Renee" Lewis Turner (Mark Turner); his beloved grandchildren, Morgan Ledbetter Everett, Amber Ledbetter-Phillips, Colby Ledbetter, Faith Spruell McCowan (Dustin McCowan), Haley Spruell Gilleylen (Aaron Gilleylen), Madison Spruell, Mark Allen Turner, Alex Teer, Jacob Teer, and Kimberly Teer Seyrek-York (Bryli Seyrek-York); and his treasured great-grandchildren, Landon, Bentley, Kensley, Karlee, J.J., Axton, Laila, Mallorie, Millie, Cameron, Payton, and Emma Grace, Haven, Tamacti and another precious grandson expected soon. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who loved him deeply and will forever cherish his memory.

A visitation for Eddie will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose life was defined by love, loyalty, and unwavering character.

Following the service, Eddie will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, reunited with the love of his life.

Though his voice is now silent, the values he lived by and the love he gave so freely will continue to echo in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
