Florella Downs Sherrill, age 105, of Birmingham, died Friday, July 10, 2020. She was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. Her parents, Ora Mae Gipson Downs and Lewis Bolton Downs, and 3 brothers predeceased her. Bro. Bryan married Florella and Joseph Leon Sherrill on October 21, 1936 and they remained happily married for 62 years until his death in 1998. Survivors: son, Joe Sherrill, Jr. (Pat) of Birmingham and daughter, Jan Sherrill Harris (Rick) of Marietta, Georgia. Also survived by one granddaughter, 4 great-granddaughters and 1 great-great grandson. Due to the Covid-19 virus a private burial will be held with entombment in Elmwood Cemetery Mausoleum.
