Gail Turner Lindstrand

Marion Gail "Gail" Turner Lindstrand, 87, passed away peacefully in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Born on January 10, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama, Gail lived a life defined by her deep Christian faith, creative passion, and her enduring love and devotion to her family.

Gail graduated from Auburn University in 1961 with a degree in architecture. Shortly after graduating from Auburn, Gail designed a beautiful mid-century modern home for her parents in Warner Robins, Georgia, reflecting her fascination with the minimalist architectural style of Frank Lloyd Wright. Gail carried Auburn in her heart wherever she lived, cheering on her beloved Auburn Tigers as an enthusiastic and lifelong fan. Gail later used her artistic talents to start and run her own interior design company in Georgia and in Oregon.

Beyond her professional talents, a large portion of Gail's life was focused on the Christian mission field. Alongside her beloved husband, Arnold Gayle "Bud" Lindstrand, with whom she shared her life in Portland, she dedicated her time and heart to serving others, leaving a lasting impact on communities across the globe. She was also blessed with many close, lifelong friends from Peachtree City First Baptist Church in Peachtree City, Georgia, where she was a member and enjoyed fellowship for decades.

Gail's greatest joy, however, was her family. God blessed Bud and Gail by bringing them together for their Golden Years. They were married on January 15, 2002, in Hawaii and then settled in Portland. Bud and Gail cherished their companionship for the next 24 years, and Bud cared for Gail every day until her death. Gail was immensely proud of the accomplishments of both her children and grandchildren, and she was mighty proud of her great-grandchildren, always showering them with gifts and celebrating their milestones even from thousands of miles away.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, Bud, and her devoted children: Dodd M. Davis (Joy) of Greer, SC; Paige D. Mathis (Michael) of Chattanooga, TN; Deon Diamond (Grant) of Star, Idaho; and Marty Lindstrand (Mary) of Oregon. Happily, Gail is now reunited with her son-in-law Grant Diamond, and her grandson Nathan (“Nate”) Lindstrand, who predeceased her. Gail was a proud grandmother to and is survived by Zac Davis (Ashley) of Greer, SC; McCay Mathis of Chattanooga, TN; Jackson Mathis (Fran) of Birmingham, AL; Brooks Davis of Greenville, SC; Gunnar Davis of Mars Hill, NC; Tate Davis of Columbia, SC; Whitney Steitzer (Matt) of Idaho; Mikeal Diamond (Sara) of Portland, Oregon; Cassie Blazevski (Jerry) of Portland, Oregon; Haley Diamond (Jon) of Portland, Oregon; Elise Lindstrand; William Berrigan (Lisa); and Jeny Baldwin (Nate). And Gail is survived by seven great-grandchildren.

While her passing leaves a void in the lives of Gail’s family and friends, they are happy that her recent physical suffering is over and that she is already enjoying fellowship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and all of the saints who preceded her.

Gail’s family and friends will observe a graveside memorial service at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama, at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, officiated by Mr. Lynn Fairley of Peachtree City, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Rusty's Place Playground, Peachtree City First Baptist Church, 208 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City, Ga 30269.
