George U Hawkins

HAWKINS, GEORGE U Hawkins, George U age 97 passed away Thursday March 31, 2011. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years Hazel Ferguson Hawkins. He is survived by his son Bob (Chris) Hawkins, daughters Sue (Lester) Rachielles, Pam (Doug) Stafford one brother Gordon Hawkins, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, he was in the second landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was retired from Clow Corporation with 40 years of excellent service. George was known for his love of nature, animals and life. He was a devoted father and grandfather with a special love for his only great grandchild Mackenzie. He was a friend to all and loved by all who knew him. Graveside service will be Saturday April 2, 2011 in Jefferson Memorial Gardens at 10:A.M. with Ridout's Trussville Chapel Directing. The family will receive friends Friday evening April 1, 2011 from 6 until 8 P.M. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and friends at Hearthstone, who loved and cared for him as if he were one of their own family. >
