Gloria Ann Randolph, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2026. Gloria was born in Chicago, IL on January 14, 1937, to David H. Randolph and Alice Justine Pakos Randolph. Her family moved to Birmingham, AL in 1944, and Gloria spent the rest of her life residing in her beloved Southside neighborhood.
Gloria graduated from Ramsay High School in 1954 and remained a lifelong supporter of the Ramsay Rams. She served for many years as a lab technician for the Jefferson County Health Department and was a member of Glen Iris Baptist Church, through which she faithfully served her community.
A talented gardener and animal lover, Gloria will primarily be remembered for her love of gathering people together for celebrations of all kinds. In 2000, she was recognized in The Birmingham News for throwing a 30th birthday party at the Alabama Theatre for her beloved baby-blue 1970 Volkswagen Beetle.
Gloria was a gifted teacher and a lifelong student of the Bible, and her faith and passion for the Lord touched lives and brought people together. She welcomed many into her life as family and was deeply and generously committed to helping others pursue their dreams and educational goals.
Gloria's legacy will live on through her love of telling stories, her passion for people, and her desire to share her faith in Jesus Christ.
“When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!”
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her second cousins Liz Hafer (Ramona Kent), Rob Hafer (Laurie), Mike Hafer (Amy), Theresa Hafer and by many adopted friends and family members from near and far.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Johns-Rideout’s Elmwood Chapel, with a celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place immediately afterward.
