

Gloria, whose life on earth was predestined by God, was born on August 28th, 1955, in Mulga, AL, to Caroline Garrett and Equator Doyle Lark Sr. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Peace Baptist Church in Mulga. Gloria loved her church and was a faithful member. She served in the choir and later served as Superintendent of the Sunday School. Gloria was willing to do anything for the church, whether it meant cooking for church functions, teaching Sunday School, or volunteering for community service.
Gloria attended Minor High School, graduating in 1973. She earned a degree in Liberal Arts from Shaw College in Detroit, Michigan. She retired from the United States Government's Social Security Administration after more than 20 years of service. After retiring, Gloria loved to travel to different countries and states, took up gardening, learned to crochet, and enjoyed playing bingo with her brother and friends at Fultondale Senior Center.
Her vibrancy and sense of humor filled every room. She was warm and affectionate, with an endless capacity for helping others. Gloria instilled a strong work ethic, compassion, and a sense of duty in her family. She was a loyal friend who cherished her friendships.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie and Jennie Croom; her parents, Equator Doyle Lark Sr. and Caroline Garrett; and her brothers, Equator Doyle Lark Jr. and Kenneth Croom. Gloria leaves behind daughters LaJean Lark, Birmingham, AL, and Nerissa Anderson, Detroit, Michigan; granddaughter Alexcia Lark Sears (Emmanuel); great-grandson DeMari Sears, Huntsville, AL; sister Carol Lark Butler; brother Robert Croom; and half-sisters Barbara Bryant and Sandra Smith, all from Birmingham, AL. A special friend, Raymond Wilson. And many nieces, nephews, and cousins, too numerous to mention.
