HARVEY, GORDON L., age 86 of Trussville, began dancing with Jesus on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Georgia Harvey; sons, Gordon E. Harvey (Marie M.) and Gary L Harvey (Jennifer); brother-in-law, Frank Stewart; and his grandchildren, Madison Harvey, Preston Harvey, Hudson Harvey, and Gavin Harvey. A long time employee of Alagasco, Gordon retired in 1995 as a senior operator. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Gordon volunteered for service in the US Air Force before graduating high school and later was a proud member of Black Pearl Vets, an organization dedicated to all those who served on Iwo Jima throughout the years. An avid outdoorsman, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family on the lake, at the campground, or on long journeys exploring the country. Gordon was a neighbor’s neighbor, quick to loan a tool and volunteer his labor along with it. Nothing made him happier than creating and working with his hands. Those who knew him will remember Gordon for his generous and helpful nature and his peculiar sense of humor. He leaves behind an extended family of friends who enjoyed his company and his joke-telling prowess. Gordon believed that those who were fortunate in life were obligated to serve others and share that good fortune. Never one to waste a day of life, Gordon lived in a way that made him and his family happy and fulfilled. A member of First Baptist Church Trussville, Gordon cherished any opportunity to fellowship and break bread with his fellow travelers in Christ. His family will celebrate his life with visitation on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church Trussville from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with his service beginning at 11:00. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The service will be live-streamed at https://FBCTrussville.org/live/
