Harry James Embry, Sr., 74, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021. He was born on December 8, 1946, in Sylacauga, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Embry and father, Thomas Cullen Embry, Sr. Harry is survived by his mother, Marion Embry of Stewartville; sons, Harry James “Jay” Embry, Jr. (Jamie) of Sylacauga and Patrick Embry of Chelsea; daughters, Heather Neese (Josh) of Pensacola and Kate Embry of Foley; and grandchildren, Daphne Embry, Donovan Embry, Camp Neese and Cullen Neese.
Harry attended Lyman Ward Military Academy and graduated from B.B. Comer Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force working as an airplane mechanic stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a crane operator with the Operating Engineers.
Visitation will be held on July 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL. 35211. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL. 35211. An inurnment service with military honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Pastor James Long will be officiating. Johns Ridout's Mortuary- Elmwood Chapel directing.
