
Mrs. Hazel Gunter Robinson passed away in Birmingham on Friday, August 22, 2014, a month past her 100th birthday. She was born on the 4th of July, and was always considered a firecracker, along with being a beloved mother and friend. Mrs. Robinson was an educator, who taught in Tennessee and in Alabama, but spent most of her teaching career in the Birmingham City System. She was a graduate of Jacksonville State University, with a degree in art, as well as in elementary education. She was a past member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary sorority and of P.A.C.E. professional art society. She was an avid bridge player and a seasoned traveler, having visited many countries of the world and most of the states in the United States, and she enjoyed cruising to almost anywhere. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.G. Robinson, and two grandsons, Jason Charles Higginbotham and Stephen Vance Higginbotham. She is survived by a daughter, Mabry Robinson Higginbotham (Charles) of Huntsville, two sons, John Albert Robinson (Sara), and Thomas Glenn Robinson, both of Birmingham, and one grandson, Michael John Higginbotham (Andrea) of Richmond, Virginia. The family will recive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Monday, August 25, 2014 at Elmwood Chapel, with graveside services following at Elmwood Cemetery, with Dr. Andrew Wolfe officating. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to the physicians, nurses, staff, and support personnel of Golden Living Center in Trussville for their professional and personal care and treatment of Mrs. Robinson as a family member while under their care.
