

Helen A. Chancey age 86 of Birmingham passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 in Atlanta. She was a born again Christian who knew the Lord as her personal Savior. She arranged Bible studies in several bakery locations. She was the president of Birmingham Collie Club for five years. She was the owner of Helen Chancey Catering from 1950-2000 and seven locations of “Piece O’Cake Bakery”, She was a regularly TV. guest of Mike Royer’s Show where she showed her talents in pulled sugar candy flowers, porcelain figurines, dolls, and birds. She kicked of the Festival of Tree’s from there with her Cathedral Gingerbread Church. She catered numerous weddings for five generations of Birmingham families. She was very proud of her Irish ancestry and Pratt City heritage. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and Pratt City Country Club. She was very proud of all her children and grandchildren, especially her son, Robby, an ordained minister, served as a missionary in Northern Ireland for 11 years. She will be loved and missed by her children, Charlie Mike Chancey, Robby Chancy, and Angela McClellan (Billy); sister, Cecilia Jackson; grandchildren, Dr. Frank Schefano, III (Mary Dell), Michael Schefano, Meghan Funk (Dan), Patrick Schefano (Stephanie), Chace Chancey,Brad Chancey (Leah), Katy Stanford (Dr.Mike), and Kimberly Chancey; and great grandchildren, Anna Marie Schefano, Abby Schefano, Ava Schefano, Sophia Schefano, Victoria Elise Decker, Tristen Funk, Drew Chancey, Chloe Chancey,Holly Chancey, and Hayden Stanford. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to Pratt City Disaster Relief Fund.
