Hershel Lafayette Mitchell, 63 of Hoover, Alabama died October 15, 2019 at home. He was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Mitchell Jr., father, George W. Mitchell Sr., mother Carolyn Floyd Mitchell, He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Farmer of Hoover, Alabama, son, Carter Daniel Mitchell, (Laura) of Birmingham, Alabama, son, Jake William Mitchell of Hueytown, Alabama and sister Ann Mitchell Patton (Barry) of Hoover, Alabama; nieces, Aimee Patton King (Jeff), Hueytown, Alabama, Ali Patton of Hoover, Alabama and nephew, Andy Patton (Jana) of Kansas City, Missouri; great-niece, Kinsley King and great-nephews, Kaden King of Hueytown and Maddox Patton of Kansas City, Missouri. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, attended Hueytown Elementary School, Hueytown High School, University of Montevallo in Alabama. He retired from ACIPCO as an administrator. He was a member of Hueytown First United Methodist Church and attended Covenant Faith Church in Moody, Alabama. The family will receive friends from Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama, 800 Dennison Ave. SW. with a Celebration of Hershel's life following at 2:30 PM. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama. Rev. Jimmy King will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made to Covenant Faith Church in Moody or Waukeenah United Methodist Church at 81 Methodist Church Road Monticello, FL. 32344.
