Howard N. Smith Jr.

HOWARD N. SMITH, JR., age 81 of Birmingham, formerly of Chattanooga, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, July 18, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theresa and Howard Smith, Sr.; and sisters, Theresa Jenkins and Wilma Black. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Debbie Drain Smith; children, J. Daryl Welch, Jr. (Beth) and Nicole Stoddard (Will); sisters, Barbara Brinson (Jerry) and Norma Hill (Harry); grandchildren, John Russell Welch, Zachary Welch, Victoria Wortman (Dakota), Deja Bernreuter (Hunter), Breanna Stoddard, Andrew Stoddard and McKenzie Stoddard; great-grandchildren, Rhease and Evelyn Wortman; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Howard retired as an electrician with IBEW after 30 years. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and church. The family will schedule a celebration of life at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highlands College.
