He was born in Cernauti Romania on May 1, 1937 and survived the Holocaust as a child .
Growing up behind the Iron Curtain in Romania under a totalitarian communist regime he made the best of it by working 50 years as an accountant in the bread industry.
He married his wife after 6 dates and followed her leadership traveling the world (over 50 countries ) , was dedicated to his family and friends and was well loved by his Jewish community in Romania and then in Alabama .
He is preceded in death by his parents Chaim and Sara Schachter and his wife Eti (Coca) Schachter
He is survived by his son Armand Sorin Schachter MD and daughter in law Susanne Seaborn Schachter , his grandkids Michael Sky Schachter, John Ryan Schachter, Preston Forrest Settle(wife Mallory) Jesse Christopher Seaborn (wife Yasmine) and great grandkids Preston Forrest Settle Il and Liam Settle.
