

Jack T. Waller, Lt. Col (retired), 92, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at St. Martin’s in the Pines. Jack was born in Birmingham to George and Myrtle Young Waller on July 22, 1925. He was a graduate of West End High School and Howard College. He served in the U. S. Air Force as navigator/bombardier for over 25 years, was a veteran of World War II, and retired as Lieutenant Colonel.
He is preceded by his parents and brother, Elroy Waller, and wife, Elizabeth Hancken Pearce Waller. Survivors are Mike (Patricia) Waller of Porter, TX, Lynne (Larry) Washam of Nashua, NH, Tom (Belen) Waller of Dana Point, CA, Kate (Doug) Brethauer of Oregon, WI, Peggy (Leroy) Sizemore of Childersburg, AL and Patti Mathews of Birmingham, AL. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather of many and known as “Grandpa Jack”. His hobbies included following the stock market, bridge, gardening, golf and games. He was quite the player and instructor of Rubbikub. Services will be held at The Church at St. Martin’s in the Pines on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 2:00 with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
