

He loved working outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. The Crimson Tide was his pride. Employed as a maintenance mechanic, he worked for Robbins Drill Equipment Service, Huntsman Packaging, and retired from Ventura Foods.
He was predeceased by his mother Peggie Heard Blackwood, father Edwin “Ed” Blackwood and daughter Kim Sloan.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Olivia “Libby” Blackwood; daughter Susan Blackwood; granddaughter Samantha Blackwood (Brandon Denney); grandson Tristen Blackwood; great-granddaughters Olivia Shae, Kaylee and Mackenzie Denney; sisters Joanna Gargus (Perry) and Pam Adcock (Mark); several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with the funeral service immediately following at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Cleveland First Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Society, or the American Heart Association.
