age 90 of Tarrant, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Boozer Brand; parents, James Bethel and Lula Shirley Brand; sister, Catherine Brand; and grandson, Andrew Brand. He is survived by his son, Mike Brand (Pam); sister, Dorothy Brand Shirley (Johnny); brother, Larry C. Brand (Josephine); granddaughter, Rebecca Brand Redmond (Nathan); granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Brand; a host of nieces and nephews; and the Arbors family at St. Martins in the Pines. J. B. was a lifelong resident of Tarrant and member of Central Baptist Church in Tarrant. He graduated from Howard College and employed by Clow Corp. and retired as Executive Vice President of Business Council of Alabama which he co-founded. J. B. was President of Associated Industries of Alabama and a 50 year member of Rotary with perfect attendance. He served on the Tarrant City Council and was active with the Boy Scouts Birmingham Area Council. J. B. was a civic leader on the city and state levels. He was an avid golfer and hit his first hole-in-one at age 80. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was their biggest supporter in all their endeavors, never missing a sporting event. The family gives special thanks to the staff at St. Martins in the Pines and Comfort Care Hospice of Pelham, especially Suzanne Kilpatrick and William. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 10:00-11:30 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with his service beginning at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arbors at St. Martins in the Pines or The Amelia Center.
