James Patrick Dorriety

DORRIETY, James Patrick, 65, passed away October 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Dorriety. He is survived by his brother, Mike Dorriety (Joy); sister Peggy D. Jones (Jimmy); nieces, Kelly D.Love, Kerry D.Reid (Danny), and Heather J. Weems (Casey); nephew, Jared Jones (Kristen); great nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and co-workers. He was a graduate of Banks High School and attended Jeff State where he began his life long passion for radio journalism. As a teenager he began his near fifty year career in radio broadcasting. He was on the air in Panama City, FL in the 70's and returned to Birmingham and WYDE before joining WBHM in the 80's where he served until retirement. The family would like to thank Melrose Fowler and Billy Fowler for their care during his final days. The Visitation will be from 1-2 on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, followed by a graveside service of internment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. Sally Allocca. In lieu of flowers, Patrick would want you to become a supporter of your local public radio station.
