He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Malinda "Peggy" Handy; his son, James Alan Handy; his grandson, Joel Anthony Lill; his mother, Lena Louise Wisner; his mother-in-law, Bessie Mae Dunn; his sister-in-law, Juanita "Dolly" Wiggins; his brother-in-law, Charles "Sonny" Wiggins; and his step-father, George Wisner.
He is survived by his daughters, Peggy Louise Handy and Debra Ann Handy; his grandson, Michael Handy; and his great-grandchildren, Aleah Handy, Taylor Handy, Jordan Handy, Christian Lill and Kayla Lill.
A visitation for James will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00PM.
