

James graduated from Western-Olin High School in 1967 and continued his education at Lawson State Community College where he specialized in Auto Mechanics. Also, at Western-Olin High School, James was a member of The McDuffie Gospel Singers where he performed as a singer/ soloist and bass guitarist.
James worked for Alabama Gas Company (Alagasco)/ SPIRE Energen Company) for 46 years as a Master Mechanic and settled into retirement in December 2015. He also served in the United States Army Reserve for 26 years, retiring as a Staff Seargent at the 926 Engineering Battalion.
James was united in Holy Matrimony to Evelyn Bernice Davis on May 22, 1971. Against the opinion of medical authorities, to this union, was miraculously born two beautiful children. Both children were reared in love and taught how to live Holy by example. James and Evelyn was married for twenty-one years when Evelyn transitioned from this earthly realm to eternity on December 11, 1992.
James was a member of Unity Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop O. L. Meadows for numerous years. Later he moved his membership to Sixth Street Peace Baptist Church and served, in many capacities, under the leadership of Reverend Geroid E. Caldwell.
Also, while under the leadership of Reverend Caldwell, James found someone who loved God and worked in the church. Two hearts of the same mind became united and together served God.
James departed his life on August 25, 2024. He was preceded in death by his Wife: (Bessie M. Kendrick); Parents (James L. (Francis C.) Kendrick Sr.), Sister (Andrea K. Locust) and Brother (Walter Kendrick).
James leaves to cherish memories and his legacy to: Loving Children (James (Melanie) Kendrick), Janet Kendrick (Birmingham, AL); 3 Sisters: Brenda K. Curtis, Elder Barbara K. (Johnnie) Stewart, Jeanette K. Davis; 1 Brother: Barry (Claudette) Kendrick; Special Friend: John W. Nathan Jr. 5 Grandchildren: James (Derriana) Jackson, Kjerstin Wells, Jasmine (Jordan) Eppenger, Jerrica Kendrick and Jordan Kendrick. 3 Great Grand Children: Jaiden Eppenger, Xavier Jackson and Arayah Anderson. A host of other relatives, church family and friends.
