

James Alvin LeCroy, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2020. He was born on April 19, 1936 in Maplesville, AL. He is survived by his Wife of 63 years, Jann Pitts LeCroy; son, Dr. Scott Whitfield LeCroy (Debbie) of Pleasant Grove AL; granddaughter, Kathryn Ann LeCroy (Riley Spahn) of Madison WI; grandson, James Edward Whitfield LeCroy (Erin) of Nashville TN; grandson, Jonathan Scott LeCroy (Mary Jo) of Leeds AL.
Jim was born to James William and Ethel Mize LeCroy. He grew up in south Alabama, attending Robertsdale High School, Marion Institute, and later Auburn University where he received his degree in Electrical Engineering. While at Auburn, he met the love of his life, Jann, with whom he happily spent the next 63 years. Jim served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 101st Airborne/ 7th Infantry Division in South Korea. For 32 years, he worked as an engineer, then as Communications Designer/ Technical Instructor for Bell South Telephone Company. Jim loved his Lord, and was a member of Central Park Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher, faithful member of the choir, and served in many areas of leadership for 54 years. Jim loved music– playing trumpet in dance bands while in high school, and later as a member of the Auburn University Marching Band. Jim enjoyed good food, singing, leading music, teaching, bird watching, and ’cow calling’.
His family will receive friends at 1 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2020. The chapel service will follow at 2 PM at Elmwood Chapel. Masks and social distancing are required.
