He served in the United States Air Force as a dentist and practiced dentistry in Roebuck for 44 years. James loved Laguna Beach, Florida and his church there, Gulfview United Methodist. He also cherished his jukebox with his collection of 45s and beach music. James was a loyal friend and maintained relationships with his classmates from Minnie Hallman Elementary School and Woodlawn High School. Most of all, he loved his wife of 53 years, Linda Smith Stephens; his three sons, Robert (Tracy), Brad (Tiffany), and Matt (Aimee); and his eleven grandchildren. James leaves a legacy of Integrity, Faith in Christ, gentleness, love for his family, and a model of a Christian husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
