Obituary of Jean Daniels Howells
Jean Daniels Howells, age 92, of Birmingham died on September 14, 2022. She was born April 14, 1930 to William Lawrence and Edith Carrel Daniels in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Woodlawn High School. Known to us as Mimi, she enjoyed weekends on the farm with her family and pets, and was a proud member of P.E.O. Her family and dogs were her love, and laughter was her gift to us all. She was preceded in death by both parents and her brother, Rear Admiral William Donald Daniels. She is survived by her children - Judy Wilson Matthews (Bruce) and John Lee Wilson III, and step-daughter - Lisa Howells Miller. Her grandchildren - Allison Wilson Parker (Matt), Brian Thomas Wilson, and Margaret Kyle Matthews Fessler (Kyle). Step-grandchildren - Emma Caroline Smith (Chad), and Evan De Lay Miller. Great Grandchildren - Mac Couvillion, Colton Parker, Ellie Parker, Dare Fessler, Davis Parker, and Mims Fessler. Beloved sister-in-law - Joan Harvey Daniels. Cousin - Emma Carrel Patrick. And many adored Nieces and Nephews. She was a lifelong resident of Birmingham and a member of First United Methodist Church. The family wishes to express gratitude to Kirkwood By the River and Compassus Hospice for the love and care they provided in her final days. The family will hold a graveside service on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 2PM at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Humane Society. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsridoutselmwoodchapel.com for the Howells family.
