Jeffrey Franklin “Jeff” Stuckey (61), a resident of Chelsea, Alabama, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, February 21, 2026. He was born on the 5th of December 1964, in Memphis, Tennessee, the first son of Samuel Ashton Stuckey and Sherry Lynn Hogue Stuckey. He was raised in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, alongside his two siblings. Jeffrey was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and uncle.
Jeffrey had a natural, God-given talent for artistic creation. He excelled in painting, writing, and sculpture– earning an art scholarship to Birmingham-Southern College upon submission of one of his first attempts at sculpting. He found lifelong joy through a passion for reading and never stopped learning. His deep historical military knowledge led him to combine two of his passions and he became a well-known sculptor of custom miniature military figures and dioramas. Jeffrey’s mastery of painting on a micro scale was matched only by his incredible works of heavy oil on canvas in the impressionist style. If you are fortunate enough to own one of his paintings, you are fortunate indeed. Anything requiring patience, detail, and skill would easily be mastered by Jeffrey if it was of interest to him: from painting to building computers to smoking beef brisket. He was a true renaissance man and lived his life full of curiosity, craftsmanship, and creativity.
Jeffrey was above all things a kind, caring person who was fortunate enough to have found his one true love: Ginger. “Ginger” and “Jeff” as they called each other were a perfect pair and demonstrated the calm, loving, and patient characteristics necessary to sustain a marriage. Jeff will be missed terribly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sherry Lynn Hogue Stuckey and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Jefferson Hogue and Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Stuckey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Ginger Shew-Stuckey; his son Jeffrey Stuckey Jr.; his father Ashton Stuckey (Glenda); his brother Jason Stuckey (Anne Marie); his sister Jennifer Stuckey Fortner; his nieces and nephews, Julia Stuckey (Camille), Joe Stuckey, Jacob Stuckey, Janie Fortner, Jack Fortner, and Jonah Fortner.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Morningstar Methodist Church in Chelsea, Alabama on Saturday, March 7th. The church will open at 1:30 PM, with the service starting at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Full Circle Rescue and Sanctuary in honor of Jeffrey’s love for Chewy, his beloved dog. Additional donations may be made to Morningstar Methodist in Chelsea, AL.
