Jerry B. Newman

Jerry Bellenger Newman, 81, a lifelong resident of Birmingham, died peacefully Monday morning. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Ruby Bellenger, her sister, Betty Schultz, her brother, Dr. Charles Bellenger, and her son, Brian Kevin Newman. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Danny Lee Newman, her children, Allyson Overstreet (Bill) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Martin Newman of Birmingham, Lindsey Newman (Barbara) of Birmingham, Amy Way (Cary) of Auburn, daughter-in-law Debi Newman of Dallas, Texas, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1950 and retired from O’Neal Steel in 2004 after rearing her children and working with her husband in his flooring business, Universal Interiors, for many years. During her life, she worshipped with her family at Ruhama Baptist Church, North Park Baptist Church (the former Roebuck Park Baptist Church) and FBC Roebuck Plaza. A service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, June 19, at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Highway, Trussville, AL 35235, followed by burial across the street at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Visitation will precede the service from 12-2.
