Jessie Thelma McElroy, age 86, a native of DeKalb County and long time resident of Birmingham, AL passed away peacefully in her home on April 27, 2012. She was a member of Huffman Baptist Church, and a former member of Ruhama Baptist Church. In 2010, along with her husband, she was given the Alabama Senior Citizens 65th Wedding Anniversary Award. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Alice Lacy Wilks; and son-in-law, Alan Brucker. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Euel McElroy, Sr.; her five children, Ruth Brucker, Euel (Bonnie) McElroy, Jr., Beth (Ruben) Watters, Sula (Allen) Gillespie, and Jesse (Paige) McElroy; and her nine grandchildren, Rachel and Caleb (Emily) McElroy, Elizabeth, Sarah Jean, Joseph, and Harrison Watters, Desi Gillespie, and Liam and Juda Semegn McElroy. The visitation will be held on Monday, April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Huffman Baptist Church.
