Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth F. Miller; his sons Ricky Miller (Paula), Roger Miller (Misty), and Rockford Miller (Sarah); his grandchildren Ryan Miller (Kimberly), Jake Miller, Kristin Pitts (Matt), Megan Miller, Lindsay Dodd, and one more on the way; great grandchildren Ilyana Pitts, Aria Pitts, Miyah Cambria-Joyce, and one more on the way; his sister-in-law, Clara Miller; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in passing by his mother, Lucille W. Miller; and his brothers Kenneth and Jack Miller.
Affectionately known as "2 Ton", he was born and raised in Alabama. Jim attended Ensley High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. After his service, Jim worked as an Engineer of sorts for Ingalls Iron Works, the City of Birmingham, and Jefferson County. He took pride in his work and was skilled in many areas. Passionate about aviation, Jim received his pilot's license in his late 50s. He was also an avid Auburn football fan and a quasi-artist and wood worker. Jim also loved animals. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A visitation for "2 Ton" will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial with Military Honors at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville, AL.
