Joan Chabert Foreman

Joan Marie Chabert Foreman, age 74, of Birmingham, died peacefully on September 8, 2026, at her home in Hoover, Alabama with her husband holding her and her family surrounding her. She was born on February 5, 1952, in Birmingham, the daughter of Francis and Annabelle Chabert.

Joan was brilliant. She graduated from Ensley High School with honors in 1970. Four years later, in 1974, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Auburn University and in 1978 she graduated from Auburn with a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering/Statistics/Computer Science with a perfect 4.00 GPA.

With master’s degrees in engineering in-hand, Joan and Bill moved from the quiet college town of Auburn to Baytown Texas, a suburb of the bustling mega-city of Houston, to work for Exxon, the world’s largest corporation at that time.

In her long career as an IT Systems Analyst, Joan worked for several organizations including Auburn University, Exxon, Vulcan Materials, and Regions Bank. In 2015, Joan finished her career as a Senior Systems Analyst at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, working at their Headquarters Campus located in Riverchase.

Joan is survived by the love of her life and husband of 46 years, William (Bill) Foreman. Survivors include her sister, Susan Ogle (husband -Tommy Olge) and their 2 sons, Trey Ogle (wife – Elizabeth) and Drew Ogle (wife- Rebecca) and their children. Other survivors are Bill’s sister, Suzanne Foreman Crosby (Husband-Rev Tim Crosby) their son Joshua Crosby.

Joan was preceded in death by her father, Francis Philip Chabert, and her mother, Annabelle Bates Chabert, grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Joan and Bill have been members of Briarwood Presbyterian Church (PCA) for almost four decades. Joan was a very avid animal lover, and she and Bill “raised” 12 dogs during their 46 years of marriage. The cremated remains of the ten dogs that have preceded her in death will be placed in her coffin alongside her remains. She is survived by her two current beloved K-9’s, Tiger and Roxie.

A Celebration of Life Service for Joan will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Briarwood Presbyterian Church Chapel at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
