Joanne P Fogle

Joanne was born in Homewood Alabama on February 28,1959. She graduated from W.A. Berry High School in 1977, attended UAB, and the University of Montevallo. While attending Montevallo, Joanne won Excellence awards in both painting and printmaking and was accepted into the 1990 Southern Graphics Council Traveling Two Year Exhibition. Joanne retuned to the Montevallo campus in 2002 as an artist-in-residence to complete work on the Alabama Big Print project. The work for this project toured the state for two years and is placed in the permanent collections of the University of Montevallo and the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Joanne's artwork has also been displayed in art museums, restaurants, local businesses and homes.

Joanne worked in visual design for Parisians and other department stores, giving shoppers incredible visuals while they shopped. Later in life, Joanne went back to school and became a licensed physical therapist assistant. Throughout her PTA career, she touched many lives as she helped patients on their journey of regaining strength and healing.

Joanne was fiercely independent, a loyal friend, a loving sister, and she advocated for people and many causes. She lived life on her terms, and her family and friends admired her talent, tenacity and passion. She will be forever remembered and sorely missed.

Joanne is survived by her brother George Kakoliris (Penny), her nieces Kristi Durhan (David) and Connie Kakoliris, and many cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11 am at Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. Father Micah Hirschy will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am-11am at the church. Burial will follow the funeral at Elmwood Cemetery following the service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The American Cancer Society. The family of Joanne P. Fogle wishes to thank Hope Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
