Joe Blackwell went home to be with the Lord on May 18th, 2022. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Lavonne Blackwell, father Will Blackwell, mother Gertrude Blackwell, and Sister Doris Elberry, Leaving Behind children Lisa Miller (Norman). Jennifer Brewer (Jabe), David Blackwell, Greg Blackwell (Holly); 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; Brothers & Sister James Blackwell, Aubrey Blackwell, Shirley Bailey (James), BJ Currington. and many loving nieces and nephews. Joe loved his family and enjoyed watching them grow, but his first love was Alabama football and playing golf, always wanting that perfect score. Joe worked at CBI for the first half of his career and then retired from US Steel in 2000. A memorial will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022, at noon at the Homewood Church of Christ.
