Mr. Joe J. Chiarella age: 92 of Pelham, Al. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 07, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Mary Chiarella and his siblings Sarah Monte, Ben Chiarella, Paul Chiarella, Mary Costanza, Ann Graffeo, Marian “Buddy” Mareno. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and reaching the rank of Srgt. He was the owner and operator of Oddo Save-A-Stop serving the community for 35 years. Member of the Knights of Columbus, Sons Of Italy, Italian-American club and the American Legion. Former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church for many years. Survivors include his devoted wife of 31 years Mrs. Nancy Chiarella, Daughter- Mary Rose DeArman (Larry) ,Son- Jackie Chiarella , Daughter- Lisa Acton and his only grandchild Samantha Jo Acton. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, November 09, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 noon til 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery. Monsignor Paul Rohling will officiate the ceremony. In Lieu of flowers family suggest donations be made to Our Lady Of the Valley Catholic Church in Joe's name.
